Folk Music

Folk Music include traditional folk music and the genre that evolved from it during the 20th century folk revival. Some types of folk music may be called world music. It has been contrasted with commercial and classical styles. It’s a type of popular music that does not use electric instruments.

Indian folk music (Hindi: Bhaartiya Lok Sangeet) is diverse because of India's vast cultural diversity. It has many forms including Bhangra, lavani, dandiya, Sufi folk rock, and Rajasthani.  Also, many folk songs are associated with a dance form, which is usually performed while singing these songs. Today, almost every Indian state/region has a folk song of its own.
